PURPOSE

The primary purpose of this role is to ensure the accuracy, integrity and quality of data within the organisation. This involves managing and documenting data sources, performing quality checks and collaborating with IT to implement efficient data processes. The role also includes leading data cleaning initiatives, providing data insights for decision-making and mentoring junior analysts to maintain high standards in data management and analysis.

JOB ROLE
- Gain a comprehensive understanding of various data sources and their owners.
- Document database tables, fields and relationships.
- Assess the current state of data quality by analysing existing XDS data.
- Own and manage the validation rule set for all data sources.
- Compile and generate reports.
- Document and maintain current load processes for all data.
- Develop ETL data standards focused on improving efficiency for IT.
- Create a matrix for IT to use for existing and new data loads.
- Analyse the data replication process across all database instances.
- Continuously enhance knowledge and skills in data analyst practices, processes and relevant technology.
- Perform regular quality checks on data retrieved by internal departments and external customers.

**JOB DESCRIPTION**
- Design and develop input/output formats for data acquisition.
- Improve data sourcing and quality-checking processes.
- Audit validation rule sets and propose new rules or changes to existing ones.
- Maintain strong relationships with the IT team to ensure timely implementation of proposed fixes.
- Extract and compare data source inputs to the master database and address anomalies. Document and follow up on IT change requests and projects
- Collaborate with internal departments and external customers to understand data quality issues and propose solutions
- Report on the business impact before deploying any data changes
- Ensure IT change requests and projects are thoroughly tested and approved before implementation
- Regularly extract data and compare it across various databases to ensure accurate data replication
- Redefine the data upload process to minimize data loss and retain maximum quality
- Import, clean, transform, validate, or model data to derive insights for decision-making
- Present findings and recommendations
- Assist product owners with data assessment to develop new products and solutions. Lead data cleaning initiatives to prevent valid data losses
- Coordinate data clean-ups, prioritizing tasks and reporting feedback to clients
- Establish a process for handling rejected data, including reasons for rejection and potential actions
- Resolve routine problems in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
- Mentor junior data analysts
- Perform any other related duties as requested by management

**EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATION**
- Grade 12 / Matric 1- 2 years relevant data analysis experience.
- Tertiary qualification SQL and database knowledge
- Strong analytical skills to identify data issues and propose solutions
- Performing data quality checks and implementing validation rules
- Understanding of ETL processes
- Ability to compile and generate reports for management review
- Experience with data visualization tools like Power BI or similar
- Familiarity with project management methodologies
- Experience in change management to help implement new data processes
- Implementation of automation tools to streamline data quality processes and reduce manual effort
