**PURPOSE OF THE JOB**:
To drive the Data and Analytics office visions, strategy and execution under the leadership of the General Manager: Insurance Administration. Ensure that the department is functioning effectively to enable sustainable business growth support and profitability, internal efficiencies through improved data structures, constant data cleanliness and insight, efficient data and governance processes. Design and implement the Groups data management roadmap in collaboration with key business stakeholders and ICT to ensure it meets the applicable requirements plus regulatory requirements.

**RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE**:
**Leadership, management and reporting**

- Provide positive and professional leadership to the employees within the Data Management and Analytics department.
- Provides guidance and oversight, under the leadership of the General Manager: Insurance Administration, of business wide data activities and support for champions for data ownership, standardisation, accessibility and data governance that supports key business decisions and processes.
- In collaboration with ICT and the POPI Information officer regulates how the group captures, maintains and presents data for business and regulatory purposes.
- Manage the lifecycle of data and information in order to meet business data requirements and performance standards.
- Provide advice and support to the departments within this division on matters relating to any data issues within the Group.
- Through regular engagement and reporting to ICT Steering committee ensure compliance with legislation and regulations of the Prudential Authority (PA) Financial Service Conduct Authority (FSCA), POPI Act and ASISA on matters within the departments ambit.

**Data management**

- Develop and implement the Groups data management programme including data technologies, processes, and policies across the business.
- Provide guidance ensuring compliance with the data management policy on how departments within business captures, maintains and applies data and information to support key business processes.
- Monitor implementation of the Data Management Policy and Data Quality Standards and supporting data stewards and business units on implementing these.
- Monitor and report to General Manager: Insurance that the Group complies with any regulatory data requirements in terms of insurance legislation and any associated regulations through implementation and maintenance of the data management framework.
- Work closely with ICT function in creating an environment that makes data and information accessible to business functions through appropriate channels, according to the Groups data standards
- Work with management and advises on the use of data to improve performance and business wide strategy formulation.
- Establish data service standards under the guidance of the General Manager: Insurance Administration and monitor efficiency, performance and quality. Allocate resources efficiently to achieve timely delivery of services to both internal and external customers.

**Operational Analytics**
- Drive the operational analytical capabilities and use of information within the for applicable sub-set of data Group to optimise business performance.
- Establish and maintain appropriate analytical processes, models, systems and capabilities to deliver powerful operational analytics and predictive modelling capabilities to the group.
- Oversee the development and maintenance of appropriate systems and reporting mechanisms to meet the groups regulatory data requirements and analytics. This includes Conduct of Business data submissions and interaction with the FSCA on these issues under guidance of Compliance and the GM Insurance Administration.
- Develop and maintain appropriate business insight and information access channels for business that is consistent across all business units.
- Review and present analytical; findings and recommendations from data scientist to appropriate forums and committees.
- Oversee work and output of Specialist: Business Analytics and Quality Control Financial, Budget management and Ad hoc projects
- Responsible to prepare annual financial budget (capital and operational) for analytics and data management including data cleansing
- Manage actual direct expenses against budget and take corrective actions where there are deviations
- Lead projects that may come up from time to time due to changing business requirements or changes in the regulatory environment.

**People management**
