Camps Bay High School is seeking to employ an additional Deputy Principal to assist the Principal in managing the school and promoting the education of learners. The new Deputy Principal will need to maintain a total awareness of the administrative procedures across all the school activities ensuring the school runs efficiently and is managed effectively.

**Minimum Requirements**:

- Have a minimum of 10 years teaching experience;
- Already be in a PL2 or equivalent post - preferably in the role of Deputy Principal;
- Have excellent communications and interpersonal Skills;
- Have strong Administrative Skills;
- Have a background in Human Resources (advantageous);
- Be competent using the latest technology;
- Be qualified to teach Grades 8 - 12;
- Be SACE Registered; and
- Have excellent content knowledge of the CAPS Curriculum

**Duties and Responsibilities**:
**In this Managerial Role, the Deputy Principal’s main focus areas will be**:

- Assisting the principal in his duties and deputise for the principal during his absence from school, including
- School administration: duty roster, arrangement to cover absent staff, internal and external evaluation and assessment, school calendar, admission of new learners, class streaming, school functions, and
- School finance and maintenance of services and building, including planning and control of expenditure, allocation of funds/resources, the general cleanliness and state of repairs of the school and its furniture and equipment, supervising annual stock taking exercise
- Assisting with the School Discipline (of learners) and any issues that may arise and need addressing
- Overseeing the Human Resources function at the School including:

- Contracts
- Staff development/Performance Appraisal
- Staff Wellness
- Assisting with grievance/staff discipline and hearings
- Overseeing new teachers including their induction, monitoring and addressing any shortcomings
- Monitoring the duties and roles of the Tutor (Class) Teachers;
- Managing the Pastoral side of the school
- Assisting with the SBST
- Managing the Annual Asset Registers/stock control
- Monitoring the Extra-curricula Programme including Sport, Culture and Service related activities
- Engaging in class teaching as per workload of the relevant post level and needs of the school
- Guiding and supervising staff
- Supervising the Representative Council of Learners
- Liaising on behalf of the Principal with relevant government departments
- Maintaining contact with sport, social, cultural and community group and assisting the principal in liaison work with committees and groups crucial to the school
- Meeting with parents concerning learners’ progress and conduct.
