The IT Technician is responsible for providing technical support, troubleshooting, and maintenance of the organization's IT infrastructure. This role involves responding to user inquiries, resolving technical issues, setting up and configuring hardware and software, and ensuring the smooth operation of IT systems.

Key Responsibilities:
Technical Support:

- Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network issues efficiently.
- Escalate complex technical issues to senior IT staff or relevant departments.

Hardware and Software Setup:

- Install, configure, and upgrade computer hardware and peripherals.
- Set up user accounts and permissions.

Troubleshooting:

- Identify and resolve network connectivity issues.
- Analyze system logs to identify potential problems.

Maintenance and Upkeep:

- Perform routine maintenance tasks such as system backups and updates.
- Monitor system performance and take proactive measures to prevent downtime.
- Ensure antivirus and security software are up-to-date and functional.

Documentation:

- Maintain accurate records of IT assets, inventory, and configurations.
- Document solutions to common technical issues for knowledge sharing.
- Create and update user guides and technical documentation.

Remote Support:

- Provide remote assistance to off-site users using remote access tools.
- Assist remote employees with technical issues related to virtual private networks (VPNs) and remote access.

User Training:

- Educate users on cybersecurity awareness and safe computing practices.

Collaboration:

- Collaborate with the IT team to implement new technologies and solutions.
- Work with other departments to understand their IT needs and provide appropriate solutions.

Hardware Inventory Management:

- Maintain an up-to-date inventory of hardware assets, including computers, printers, and other peripherals.
- Assist with procurement and disposal of IT equipment.

Qualifications and Skills:

- A bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Proven experience as an IT Technician or in a similar technical support role.
- Strong knowledge of computer hardware, software, and networking systems.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Customer-oriented mindset and the ability to provide exceptional customer service.
- Basic understanding of cybersecurity principles.
- Experience with remote support tools and techniques.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified IT Professional) are a plus.

**Salary**: R16,000.00 per month
