Technical Fire Officer

Fire Reticulation understanding of isolations in the UIC
- Knowledge of individual isolation with the UIC Fire-water Ring-main
- Arranging for contractors as and when required for “Emergency Breakdowns
- Loading of works orders on the Opsuite system to maintenance personnel.
- Loading of orders in Syspro system to purchase equipment and to load works orders for services required
- Knowledge of un-boosted fire-water piping and ancillaries.
- Key to understanding of the fire-water networks system on the engineering drawing, located in the drawing office.
- Arranging for the engineering drawing and P&ID to be updated, whenever changes are made to the system.
- Interface with the APS Operations Superintendent for planning of budget for the Fire-water network and record on the 20 year forecast
- Updating of P&ID boards located at each Fire-water valve chamber
- Conduct weekly inspections to the fire-water Pump stations, check on piping and fire-water pressure gauges to ensure that the correct fire-water pressure is maintained, to the Ring main within the AECI Industrial Complex
- Conduct weekly check with instruments and Electrical Department foreman to ensure that the VSD’s for the Boosted Fire-water pumps are within Pre-determined operating pressure, so as to not over pressure the system
- Flushing of Fire-water hydrants situated around the Umbogintwini Industrial Complex, and checking on Fire-water boosted Pump stations
- Industrial Chemicals, and AECI Mining Fire-water boosted Pump Station.
- Ensuring that the Diesel tank for AECI Mining Boosted Fire-water pump station is maintained, and having adequate diesel supply in the event of a power outage
- Arranging for Necessary work to be carried out by External contractors, and the APS Utilities Maintenance Department fitter’s, when breakdowns occur. ( Fire-water )
- Undertake maintenance to the fire-hydrants, check on leaking valves glands and adjust/repack when necessary, and liaise with the Utilities Maintenance department, for additional manpower to conduct remedial repairs to Fire-Booster pumps and piping

**Qualifications & Experience**:

- Trade Test passed qualification, for Mechanical Fitter
- Computer literate with Excel and Word
- Self-motivated person
- Loading of works orders on Opsuite, and assigning them to Utilities Maintenance Department
- Valid Code 8 driver’s license.
