Maintenance Manager

**Organize the workshop and keep tidy**. Manage a system of replacing tools, equipment etc. Implement systems for signing out equipment, stock take and keeping up tp date with health and safety requirements.

**Plan and organize daily preventive maintenance systems**: Servicing (record keeping) maintenance e.g. oil and water checks, battery water checks, feed out trailers, fix punctures or organize for them to be fixed.

**Preventative maintenance on equipment in the feed mill, ability to repair augers and conveyers.

Experience with repairs and maintenance on tractors, vehicles, spray implements and general farming equipment.

Check on all work done by tractors eg: Feeding (food for different groups of cattle), wrapping, fertilizing, planting of rye and maize, spraying of maize, fire breaks (work with staff to show you the boundaries etc - communicating with management and coming up with solutions to any problems experienced)i.e. slurry spreading and irrigation.

To be involved/run the pasture planting, maize planting and irrigation of pastures consulting with management and staff.

Setting of planters and fertilizer spreader to be worked and checked with management in the mornings

**Organize and maintain the spares room. Spares labeled and to be sourced easily**

**Organize and maintain the oil room. Locked and tidy**

**Maintain chemical room - locked and stock taken**

Fixing or maintaining water systems where necessary - eg. If a ball valve breaks, pipe is leaking, pump broken etc. Managing and maintaining the pivots and knowing how to service and repair the nozzles - reporting these problems to guy with solutions

Checking pumps on the various sites - know how to fix them, replace them or when to refer them to a dealer. **Liasing with Guy so he is in the loop with solutions**

Checking on fences and boundary fencing and maintainin, fixing gates where necessary - reporting any issues to Guy with solutions

Maintenance on staff quarters such as stoves and iron rooves, replacement of glass in windows if necessary

Piggery - welding of gates or any iron work, pig feeders etc

Ability to speak Zulu

Greasing, oiling,

Make up spare chain sets

Checking sprockets

Checking floors of conveyers for wear

Dusting of motors

**PUMPS**

Checking bearings

listen for unusual noises

packing, greasing and suctions

**FARM EQUIPMENT**

When finished being used:
Check bearings

Greasing

Check discs for wear and tear

**PIVOTS**

Checking weekly of spray guns

Universals

Oil in gear boxes

Punctures

**Additional general farm work**

**Work begins at 7 for roll call of staff ( however discretion is needed for planning and organizing of farm work especially in planting season to make sure all equipment is ready, drivers are ready, chemicals and seed, diesel etc is ready for start of work at 7)**

**Working hours will be from 7-5 Monday to Friday**

We do work public holidays.

Every second weekend to be worked from 7-12 and thereafter 12:00 you will be on standby if necessary. If a function is on a working weekend these can be discussed timeously to swap out. (at least a week to two weeks in advance)

**Salary**: R20,000.00 - R25,000.00 per month
