**Description**:
This role’s primary responsibility will be to deploy our production team operationally in the plant to operate, improve equipment reliability, and optimize maintenance quality. Furthermore, this role plays a crucial part in ensuring the plant operates efficiently, minimizes downtime, and effectively allocate resources so that it will contribute to the profitability of the company. Maximize plant performance at reduced costs on a 24/7-hour operation and satisfy the identified needs of the production plants.
**Responsibilities**:
- ** Artisan Performance**: Deploy artisans effectively to efficiently repair plant breakdowns Conduct thorough quality assessments on equipment repairs and closure of job cards. Cultivate and motivate teams to perform optimally.
- ** Root Cause Analysis**: Investigate production stoppages and equipment failures to determine root causes and collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement effective solutions.
- ** Production Optimization**: Work closely with production and maintenance teams to develop and refine throughput strategies, ensuring they align with best practices and minimize downtime.
- ** Quality**: Implement and drive housekeeping practices and drive quality of work. Discuss daily topics on performance and safety to analyze equipment performance, identify trends, and improve production throughput.
**Employee management and development**
- Ensure overall compliance with relevant procedures and policies.
- Ensure that all team members have clearly defined job profiles
- Regular goal review completed to assess achievement of results
- Support, coaching and mentoring are continuously provided to ensure that objectives are met
- Ensure that development plans are in place for each employee
- Appropriate allocation of resources to meet operational demands
- Ensure that events/activities taking place in the team are effectively communicated within team
**Health and Safety**
- Participate in safety forums and attend relevant training/programmes
- Report all safety incidents to the relevant people
- Comply with safety policies and procedures
- Wear protective clothing (where applicable) at all times
**Requirements**:
**Qualification and Experience**
- Technical qualification or equivalent
- Production management experience advantageous
- Minimum 5 years supervisory experience in a production or a similar role in an industrial setting
**Knowledge, Skills and Attributes**
- The ability to operate under pressure executing fault finding on systems and equipment.
- Stress tolerance.
- Ability to motivate and train operators and assistants to reduce plant downtime to a minimum.
- Able to work shifts and have own transport.
- Ability to communicate upwards and downwards.
- Ability to work flexibly according to the requirements of the role.
- Results orientated while maintaining attention to detail.
- Mentally and physically fit.
- Available for call outs when required.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to perform root cause analysis.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team and collaborate with cross-functional departments.
- Hands-on approach to engineering and engineering optimization with a proven practical track record.
- Driven and self-motivated with the ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
