**Job title**
- Practice Manager - Accounting

**Experience and qualifications**
- At least 3-5 years managerial experience in an accounting or audit firm
- Either CA(SA); BComm Honours with articles; or CIMA graduate

**Purpose of the job**
- Ensure the accounting practice runs efficiently, effectively and profitably while providing superior client service and excellent working environment (including training and development) for our staff and trainees.
- Overall responsibility for the performance and profitability of the accounting business unit, including operational performance management, work scheduling, training / development and quality control of accounting function.

**Key responsibilities**
- Your responsibility as a Practice Manager will be to manage a team of Accountancy staff whilst providing an exceptional service to a portfolio of clients.
- Demonstrate a passion for delivering a quality service and the ability to ensure that client needs are met.
- Managing a diverse portfolio of clients including sole traders, partnerships and limited companies
- Development of the client base and taking part in networking, building strong relationships with clients
- Relationships with key internal and external stakeholders (e.g. SAICA, SAIPA, other divisional heads, etc.
- Responsibility for work allocation and job completion, ensuring deadlines are met - In particular, developing systems and processes to ensure that this is done effectively
- Review and enhance workflow efficiencies across an entire division
- Review and implement systems upgrade/changes where needed
- Developing the use of cloud accounting software and the ability to advise both clients and staff
- Reviewing and completion of all work prior to partner review
- Build and develop a great team of accountants and trainees
- Manage and train team members - Ensure that we develop an appropriate training and development programme for trainee accountants
- Develop and implement reporting processes and procedures for HVM accounting
- Own the divisional budgeting and forecasting process
- Preparation of monthly fees projections, annual budgets and cashflow projections for HVM accounting group
- Managing the profitability of HVM accounting practice and individual client accounts
- Annual client portfolio and profitability review (Client segmentation)
- Ensuring invoices are raised on a timely basis

**KPAs**
- Revenue and profit from accounting services
- X-sell opportunities identified
- Customer and staff satisfaction
- Good efficiency ratios (Backlogs, queries, etc.)

**Additional Requirements**
- Strong technical, organisational, communication and people management skills are required
- Organized and commercially minded
- Display a flexible, professional approach and have the confidence and ability to establish credibility with Partners and clients
- Familiar with cloud-based accountancy software (Preferably XERO)
- Entrepreneurial flare and a sense of ownership
- Proactive and self-starter
- Appropriate level of technical accounting experience
- Ability to develop and manage processes and workflows
- Ability to grow, develop and performance manage people and teams
- Ability to work under pressure
