**JUNIOR IT TECHNICIAN**

**JOB SUMMARY**

The Junior IT Technician’s primary role will be to provide technical support to end-users within an organization at large. The technician ensures that systems are up and running optimally and that every user on the system is able to complete tasks efficiently. The technician at large is responsible for troubleshooting hardware and software issues, installing and configuring software, performing routine maintenance tasks, and managing user accounts and access permissions.

**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Providing technical support to end-users for hardware and software issues - this includes troubleshooting, diagnosing, and resolving problems, and escalating more complex issues to reporting manager as needed.
- Software installation and configuration, upgrading software and operating systems, and ensuring compatibility with existing hardware and software.
- Performing routine maintenance tasks, including system backups, antivirus updates, and system scans.
- Monitoring system performance and identifying and addressing performance issues.
- Setting up computers - adding a computer and a user to active directory and domain.
- Assisting in the implementation of IT projects, including software rollouts, hardware upgrades, and system migrations.
- Identifying problems and finding effective solutions in a timely and efficient manner.
- Assigning different access levels to different users.
- Adding users to the print server.
- Troubleshooting of client machines for faults.
- Preparing boardrooms for meetings and providing guidelines on how to use the system - VC support.
- Assigning mobile routers to users.
- Support of approximately 150 users in two different offices as well as offsite support.
- Communicating effectively with end-users and maintaining accurate records of all support requests and resolutions.
- Learning and development: Keeping up to date with the latest trends and technologies in the IT field.

- Strong technical skills.
- Knowledge of hardware and software troubleshooting, and experience working with operating systems such as Windows and Microsoft Office.
- Good understanding of computer systems and networks.
- Diagnostic and problem-solving skills.

- Ability to adapt to rapidly changing environments.
- Organisational and time management skills.
- Accurate recording and documenting of technical issues, resolutions, and service requests.
- Work well in a team environment.

**QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE**
- Diploma in IT.
- Microsoft certifications will be advantageous.
