Engish Language Teacher/ Sports Coordinator

The English Teacher & Sports Coordinator plays a dual role in shaping the minds and bodies of our students. This position requires a passionate educator who is equally adept in the classroom and on the sports field. The incumbent’s responsibilities will be split evenly between teaching English (First Language - Cambridge Curriculum) to a range of classes and coordinating our sports programs to foster teamwork, discipline, and physical health across the whole school.

**Minimum Qualifications and Experience**:

- Bachelor’s degree in English, Education, or related field.
- Teaching certification or licensure in English.
- Licensure or certification in Sports Coordination or Management
- Proven experience in teaching English and managing or coordinating sports activities.
- 5 years’ experience teaching IGCSE and/or AS Level English (First Language).
- Registration with South African Council of Educators.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Flexibility and creativity in both teaching and sports program development.

**Minimum Duties and Responsibilities**:
**English Teaching (50%)**
- Must be able to demonstrate the values of integrity, respect, and collaboration.
- Develop and maintain IGCSE and AS Level English Language curriculum materials and engaging lesson plans that meet syllabus requirements, incorporate diverse teaching strategies to accommodate all learning styles, and stay current with changes in curriculum and assessment criteria.
- Prepare lesson plans incorporating new methods and aids.
- Assume leadership roles when necessary, and manage, evaluate, and report on student progress.
- Create an active, positive learning environment, leveraging students' experiences, providing detailed assessments, maintaining discipline, and utilizing audiovisual aids to enhance lesson delivery.
- Administer and evaluate formative and summative assessments in English Language.
- Offer timely, constructive feedback to students for improvement.
- Maintain accurate records of grades and progress, communicating with parents as necessary.
- Assist in enhancing educational programs and student welfare, support in counselling, guidance, and discipline, and contribute to organizing extracurricular activities, school events, and optional weekend or holiday classes.
- Coordinate academic activities, manage and maintain educational resources and equipment, monitor student attendance, and perform various administrative duties including safety drills, timetabling, and financial collections.
- Contribute to the professional development of new and student teachers and participate in in-service training and workshops for ongoing professional growth.
- Stay updated on educational trends and curriculum changes.
- Maintain effective communication with stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with relevant authorities.

**Sports Coordination (50%)**
- Develop, organize, and oversee the school's sports programs, including training sessions, matches, and sports events.
- Promote the importance of physical activity and healthy living among students.
- Coordinate with other staff members to ensure the integration of sports into the broader educational experience.
- Manage Sports Programs and Sports Events.
- Provide coaching in various Sporting Disciplines.
- Liase with parents and students regarding sports.
