- The Consultant (Principal Hydrogeologist) will be responsible for technical backstopping, business development and project implementation. The Consultant (Principal Hydrogeologist) must demonstrate knowledge, proficiency of hydrogeology and water sector regulatory requirements for successful implementation of projects, be able to work effectively and participate in project management (methodology, proposal/ report compilation, budget control, timely completing of project, write-offs presentation skills etc.), can problem solve, work as part of a team, and independently where appropriate.Key Responsibilities
- Working alongside the existing team, and with support from the hydrology & hydrogeology Technical Leads as well as Technical Discipline Manager, key aspects of the role will include:

- Business development, preparing proposal, project management and liaison with project managers, clients, and authorities.
- Liaising with regulators and agreeing on scope of works (where required) on behalf of our clients, and delivery quality work on time and in budget for a variety of clients.
- Designing standard hydrogeological investigations, writing technical reports, and presenting findings to clients, regulators and other stakeholders when required.
- Technical backstopping of junior hydrogeologists producing technical reports for groundwater investigations and water environment risk assessments to support Environmental Management Planning and Approvals processes.
- Mentoring and developing junior hydrogeologists.

**Minimum Requirements**:

- Master of Science (BSc), Hydrogeology/Geology / Earth Science with SACNASP Pr.Sci.Nat. registration.
- At least 15 years’ experience in hydrogeology, with at least 5 years working experience** **as consulting Principal hydrogeologist/Technical Lead.
- Expertise in South African water resources act/regulations and specialist input in pursuant to implementation the environmental act/legislation and the Environmental Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) process in various sectors particularly in association with Environment Managemental Planning and Approvals.
- Must be able to proactively develop and manage complex/multiple projects, liaise with clients, specialists, and regulatory authorities, manage quality assurance/client feedback and ensure he/she meets budgetary, quality, safety and timeframe targets.
- Must be able to sustain client and stakeholder relationships.
- Must be a strong team player and have experience of mentoring and developing staff.
- Must have worked on projects within South Africa, SADC, and the rest of Africa
- Proficiency in MS Office, any GIS packages, other water related software.
- Valid driver’s license.

**Skills/ Attributes**:

- Good communication and interpersonal skills in English - written and verbal; additional languages will be advantageous.
- Strong knowledge of project management (methodology, proposal/ report compilation, budget control, timely completion of projects, write-offs, presentation skills etc.).
- Strong technical report writing skills.
- Understanding of issues of projects in many disciplines and mining & minerals, energy, oil & gas industry, power, and infrastructure sectors.
- Excellent time management skills, attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to take initiative and work independently.
- Must be able to work on multi-disciplinary and a fast-paced environment.
- Valid driver’s license.
