We are seeking an experienced **Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Manager** to join our Management team in the Southern Region and help us maintain a safe and healthy workplace environment.

**About the role**: The OHS Manager is responsible to design and implement the operational safety system, ensure all staff is informed and well trained regarding requirements, does all needed risk assessments, investigates all safety incidents and reports on safety covering the following areas**:Stellenbosch, Worcester, George, Gqeberha, East London**

**Key Responsibilities**:
**Leadership and management of the following functions**:

- Design and implement the OHS safety system that will enable the operational units to achieve a zero-incident goal.
- Ensure all staff is informed and trained in their responsibilities regarding safety.
- Ensure all needed risk analysis is done, trained, and followed.
- Investigate all safety incidents, ensure root causes are identified and addressed.
- Report to Team Leaders and Managers periodically on stats, information as well as interventions and the impact thereof.

**OHS Management**
- Ensure that Divisional tactics, targets, and projections regarding OHS matters are clearly understood and can be delivered on.
- Develop operational plans in conjunction with Team Leaders, in accordance with the business plan.
- Manage and allocate resources effectively to meet OHS related demands and ensure optimal performance.
- Ensure that Team Leaders lead operational teams into action to execute plans by establishing daily, weekly, and monthly routines as well as running projects and ad-hoc activities.
- Establish controls in the process to ensure speed, cost, quality and risk metrics are achieved.
- Facilitate effective and ongoing cross-functional alignment with all other functions through the formal management discipline of Herotel's Management Operating System as well as the implementation and management of partnership agreements.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with all stakeholders.

**Leadership**
- Receive specific functional governance and guidance regarding policies, best practices and standards from NSO, but reports into the Operational Executive and the Level-3 Team.
- Lead and coach Level-2 Team Members to help them improve and to remain aligned to the tactical goals and culture of the business.
- Align the function with other divisions, functions and regions.
- Implement the MOS discipline in the OHS support function.

**Education, Work Experience and Competency Requirements**:

- Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety
- Relevant professional certifications and registrations
- Minimum of 3 years in a management role in OHS
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in an OHS department servicing a business unit of min 100 technical people.
- Relevant experience in the Telecommunications industry will be beneficial.
- Proven competency in leading an OHS team, including the ability to analyze complex situations, identify and prioritize goals, and develop effective plans to achieve them.
- Ability to effectively communicate (verbal and written) and implement plans.
- Results orientation and drive.
- Analytical thinking and problem solving.
- Decision making and sound judgment.
- Resilient, adaptable, and self-aware.
- Able to transfer knowledge and skills to others.
- Leadership and People Management (plan, organize, lead and control).
