**Duration of the appointment: (5-YEAR CONTRACT)**
**Requirements**:
- A PhD in Psychology
- Registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa
(HPCSA) as a clinical or counselling psychologist
- A minimum of five years teaching experience at both undergraduate and
postgraduate levels
- Evidence of supervision and training of psychology professionals
- Extensive publication record, with a minimum of 15 DHET accredited
journal articles, book chapters and/or books
- Evidence of curriculum development and articulation in relevant theories
**Duties**
**Duties of a Lecturer**:
- **Teaching and Learning**: Full involvement in all courses, updating material
in par with national and international trends; teaching and evaluation of
assigned courses; and identifying at risk students and facilitating, where
possible, additional assistance for them.
- **Research**: Undertaking discipline related research individually and in
project teams; attending and actively participating in national and
international conferences; publishing DHET approved journal articles, book
chapters and/or books; sourcing research funding; mentoring novice
researchers; and supervising Bachelor of Psychology, Psychology Honours
and Masters students’ academic research projects.
- **Academic citizenship**: Involvement in community engagement, and taking
an active role in professional organisations.
- **Professional training**: Involvement in the training of students in the B.
Psychology and MA Clinical Psychology programmes.
- **Governance**: Preparing course outlines and study guides, organising
course files, timely delivery of records of all academic activities; and
participating in departmental, school and faculty committees.
- **Performance appraisal**: Taking part in regular performance appraisal
assessments.
