**LECTURER: LIFE SCIENCES/BIOLOGY EDUCATION**

**Requirements**:
teaching qualification must be willing to register and complete a teaching

qualification such as the Post Graduate Certificate in Higher Education to be

considered for the post. The enrolment for the teaching qualification must

occur within **ONE YEAR **of assuming duty.
- Masters in Education (MEd) (Life Science/Biology Education)
- At least three (3) years of teaching experience.
- B.Sc Honours in Life Sciences (Botany or Zoology) and DHET accredited

journal articles will be an added advantage.
- Ability to provide supervision to postgraduate students.
- Strong leadership and good communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience in developing curricula, especially in Life Sciences/Biology

Education.
- Have a valid driver’s licence.

**Competencies**:

- The applicant should be able to work as part of a team, and yet also take

initiative in research projects and contribute to the development of

programmes offered in the Department.

**Duties**:
The incumbent will be required to:

- Initiate and develop curriculum and course materials in Life Sciences /

Biology Education.
- Coordinate modules in Life Sciences / Biology Education.
- Contribute towards the Department’s transformational and strategic goals.
- The preparation and delivery of lectures and seminars.
- Conduct tutorials, demonstrations, workshops for students and staff.
- Participate in academic administration such as attendance at departmental,

school and /or faculty meetings.
- Consultation, supervision and teaching of students at

postgraduate and undergraduate level.
