**Job Advert Summary**:
In delivering ‘social science that makes a difference’ the Research Divisions, Units, Institutes and Centres of the Human Sciences Research Council (HSRC) undertake policy-oriented research from its offices in Pretoria, Cape Town, Durban, and Pietermaritzburg. Our public purpose mandate is set out in the Human Sciences Research Council Act of 2008.

HSRC Publishing is a small but prolific and innovative book publishing house of social science and humanities scholarship and outstanding non-fiction from and about Africa and the global south.

The publishing house has a vacancy for an Office Administrator. This position requires an individual to ensure that the financial and general administration of the publishing unit is done to the highest possible standards.

**PUBLICATION ADMINISTRATOR**

**Ref: HSRC Pub Admin 02/2023**

**Minimum Requirements**:

- A relevant degree or diploma (NQF 6 or 7);
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience in office
- and Financial administration;
- Working knowledge of the relevant legislation, as it pertains to the PFMA and National Treasury regulations
- Experience in electronic workflow and procurement
- Must have strong administrative, planning and organising skills, demonstrate excellent written and oral communication as well as strong teamwork skills to administrate effectively for the entire unit. Must also be able to problem-solve and work independently.

**Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Administrative support to all members of the publishing unit;
- Administration of all author contracts and peer review contracts;
- Administration of all editorial board meetings including travel arrangements and member payments;
- Office management and administration, including all travel arrangements for the team, record keeping and up to date project information for the unit;
- Financial administration including raising and submitting invoices, reconciliations of income and expenditures within approved purchase orders or supplier contracts project funding invoices, and general tracking of all financial administration;
- SCM administration, including the submission and uploading of all projects for SCM approval, follow up for purchase orders and the reconciliation of purchase orders and invoices.
