Fibre technicians are involved in all facets of fibre splicing including cable preparation, termination, fusion-splicing, testing and troubleshooting.
- **Duties & responsibilities**:_
- Splicing, installation, testing, and troubleshooting of fibre sites and links
- Documenting and reporting on work completed
- Maintaining project and safety documentation
- Inspecting fiber routes and sites as preventative maintenance
- Ensuring all attended sites are clearly labelled
- Locating faults and mobilizing resources within mínimal time to counter fault
- Restoring links within SLA hours or less depending on the cruciality.
- **Minimum level of Education**:_
- Matric or equivalent Competencies required: (e.g. communication, teamwork, problem solving, etc.)
- Able to work effectively under pressure
- Able to work as part of a team to achieve work goals and targets
- Self-directed, friendly and calm under pressure
- Self-motivated and a strong sense of achievement to take ownership of the network is of utmost importance
- Task and problem solving orientation with a passion to achieve set goals and standards
- Strong leadership and a passion to take ownership
- Proficient in fibre cable termination with connectors
- Well versed in fusion splicing machine technique
- Self-disciplined, motivated and organized
- Good written and verbal English communication skills

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: R5,000.00 - R10,000.00 per month

**Education**:

- High School (matric) (preferred)

**Experience**:

- Fibre Technician: 1 year (required)
- well versed in fusion splicing machine technique: 1 year (required)
- proficient in fibre cable termination with connectors: 1 year (required)
