This role involves close collaboration with our Software Architect, Product Management, and Quality Assurance teams and includes a strong focus on leveraging AI tools to enhance productivity and code quality.

This position reports directly to the Managing Director.

The development team works mostly on a remote basis although most of the developers are based in the greater Cape Town / Winelands areas. There will be times when the various teams need to meet up in person at least once a month.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Manage and lead a team of approximately 10 software developers.
- Drive the use of AI tools to improve team productivity and code quality.
- Ensure adherence to code reviews, system documentation, and testing standards using the AI tools to maximum efficiency.
- Work closely with the Software Architect to ensure alignment with the company’s architectural vision.
- Facilitate collaboration between the various frontend and backend development teams.
- Coordinate with Product Management and Quality Assurance to ensure product requirements are met and quality standards are upheld.
- Oversee the planning, execution, and success of complex technical projects.
- Maintain effective communication across all levels of the development team.
- Ensure team adherence to best practices in coding and process.

**TECHNICAL QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Good knowledge of the AWS Cloud platform and many of the AWS services.
- Experience in full stack development including SQL and non-SQL databases.
- Experience with one or more server side languages and JavaScript.

**GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Proven experience in a software development management role.
- A relevant degree in Computer Science, Engineering or Business degree.
- Strong background in project management and team leadership.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to mentor and motivate a diverse and talented team.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience in a fintech or SaaS environment is a plus.
