The Principal Investigator is responsible for overseeing the implementation and conduct of specific Clinical Trial/s that have been assigned to them at the relevant Aurum Clinical Research Site. They may function as sub-investigators on other trials.

**Technical Work Responsibilities**
- Liaise with Internal and External Customers/Stakeholders for the specific clinical trial/s
- Management and implementation of the specific clinical trial/s assigned to them.
- Oversee Research Study-related tasks for specific clinical trials including recruitment and retention, data quality, regulatory and close-out activities.
- Conduct clinical procedures per protocol.
- Continuous monitoring of trial participants to ensure timeous reports on safety.
- Ensure all records on participants are completed and accurately filed with strict adherence to documentation handling procedures.
- Resource management for the specific clinical trial/s
- Trial-related administrative duties
- Coaching and mentoring of staff of the specific trial.
- Human capital management for the specific trial
- Bachelor’s degree in medicine or related field from four-year college or university
- Registered Medical Practitioner with the HPCSA
- GCP Certification

**Advantageous**
- Master’s in Public Health or equivalent
- Certificate in Management
- Current ACLS/AMLS training

**Experience**
- At least 3 years’ experience in clinical research/trials
- Prior PI responsibilities
- Experience in analysing data and summarising vast amounts of data into graphs
- TB/HIV and/or paediatric experience will be advantageous.
