Professional Nurse

**Main purpose of the job**:
- Coordinate the evaluation of recruited participants in the different sub-studies and assist other nurses in their daily work
**Location**:
- **PHRU - Tshepong Hospital, Matlosana, Klerksdorp**
**Key performance areas**:
- To do study-related duties as specified by the protocol
- Conduct home visits if need be
- Assess and recognize respiratory illnesses in participants
- Compile study progress reports on the number of participants enrolled and activities performed
- Establish a working relationship with clinic nurses/staff
- Follow-up participants who fail to attend their study visits
- Collect specimens from participants
- Ensure that all participants, parents/caregivers have signed informed consent forms
- Attend and resolve queries that are generated by data management staff
- Do proper filing of results and any other study-related documents in the relevant assigned place
**Required minimum education and training**:
- **Grade 12**:
- **Degree/Diploma in Nursing Midwifery experience**:
- **Primary Health Care Certificate**:
- **Qualified as a Professional Nurse**:
- **Valid Driver’s License and able to drive**
**Required minimum work experience**:
- **1 - 2 years experience in a Research field or Mother and Child Health**:
- **Empath and understanding to participants**:
- **Ability to work independently and in a team**
**Professional body registration**:
- Registered with the South African Nursing Council
**Desirable additional education, work experience, and personal abilities**:
- Empathy and understanding to patients
- Ability to lead and work independently as well as be part of a multidisciplinary team
- Flexibility to adapt to changes in study requirements
- Ability to speak local languages
- Computer literacy
