**Office-based Food Safety Administrator - Food Grade Extracts Manufacturing**

We are seeking a dedicated worker to join our team as a Food Safety Administrator at our food-grade oak extracts manufacturing facility in Diep River. As a key member of our small team, your role will be crucial to ensuring the smooth operation of our factory and supply chain and maintaining world-class standards of food safety. You will have the opportunity to assist our salesperson/s with orders and ensuring effective delivery, thus developing customer interaction and delivering quality service.

You will make sure the company is following all food safety requirements, local and international legislation, and customer-specific requirements.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Attend to all regular requirements set out in our FSSC 22000-based management system and maintain the food safety database.
- Lead food safety audits.
- Work closely and supportively with one other staff member to ensure that items are packed according to order and correctly labelled and recorded.
- Ensure that correct product specifications are available.
- Coordinate deliveries and exports between customers, exporters, authorities, hazardous goods contractors, and our own sales team and accounts.
- Maintain record control, including data capture for orders, performing incoming inspections, and periodic inventory and reconciliation.
- Oversee housekeeping and sign off on cleaning and maintenance records.
- Uphold GMP standards and perform all inspections.
- Ensure renewal of Kosher, Halal, and other certifications.
- Perform administrative tasks to support factory operations.
- Review and draft procedures as applicable, updating information based on legislation.
- Ensure that items are in good repair and that maintenance/calibration schedules are followed.
- Manage inventory and order consumables, labels, packaging materials, office equipment, etc.
- Implement the sampling plan, record results, note non-conformities, and drive corrections.
- Manage outsourced suppliers according to the standard’s requirements.
- Ensure adherence to labelling requirements.
- Drive continuous improvement, embody food safety culture, and participate operationally in the implementation of corrective action plans.

**Secondary Responsibilities**:
You will have the opportunity to work closely with the product team.

This may include gathering information, processing data, preparing samples and interacting with outsourced laboratories, and interpreting results (according to your skills).

You may have the opportunity to assist with researching international industry regulations.

**Minimum Requirements**:

- National senior certificate with at least a diploma pass (minimum requirement).
- Proficient in MS Office Excell or a similar program
- Good penmanship to write details on product labels clearly and legibly
- Valid driver’s license

**Preferred (Advantageous)**:

- National diploma or certificate in food safety, manufacturing, chemistry, or any similar technical field will be advantageous to this role.
- Previous experience in an admin-centric role in manufacturing.
- Previous experience in food or beverage manufacturing, flavouring, colourant manufacturing, or alcoholic beverage manufacturing.
- Knowledge of HACCP principles, ISO9001, ISO22001, and/or FSSC22000.

**Other information**
- Work Hours: Monday to Friday, 08h00 to 17h00.
- Location: Diep River, Cape Town Southern Suburbs.
- We run a defined operation. We will train the successful applicant on our production process and provide continuous support as required.
- The position is mostly office-based with some production requirements on an as-needed basis.
