**Job Purpose**:
Oversee and manage the mechanical engineering work on site and report findings to the Senior Project Manager.

**Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Assist in the design and development of solar PV systems, including ground-mounted and rooftop installations.
- Collaborate with the engineering team to conduct site assessments and feasibility studies for potential projects.
- Support the evaluation and selection of mechanical components and materials required for solar PV systems.
- Assist in the preparation of technical specifications, drawings, and documentation for project implementation.
- Participate in the review and approval of mechanical design plans and construction documents.
- Contribute to the planning and coordination of on-site activities, ensuring adherence to project schedules and safety guidelines.
- Assist in the installation, commissioning, and testing of solar PV systems, troubleshooting mechanical issues as needed.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineers, project managers, and technicians, to ensure seamless project execution.
- Stay updated on the latest industry trends, codes, and standards related to solar PV systems and mechanical engineering.
- Support the team in data analysis, reporting, and presentation of project-related findings.

**Qualification and Experience**:

- Bachelor of Engineering / BSc Mechanical Degree
- Licensed to work in South Africa
- Driver's license essential

**Competencies**:

- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Understanding of development processes from greenfield to ready-to-build.
- Understanding of PV plants and HV facilities construction technology.
- Knowledge of mechanical engineering principles and design concepts.
- Strong technical aptitude and the ability to learn quickly.
- Familiarity with renewable energy systems, particularly solar PV, is desirable but not mandatory.
- Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software for mechanical drawings and simulations.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Self-motivated and capable of managing multiple tasks with mínimal supervision

**Job Type**: Internship
Contract length: 12 months

**Salary**: From R6,000.00 per month

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Johannesburg, Gauteng: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (required)
