Junior Laboratory Technician

Located in La Lucia, Durban North, the incumbent to undertake and be responsible for performing analysis as per client requirements and test methodology, receive, test, analyze, record and report results of tests.

Main Duties Include:

- Ensure the accuracy and precision of all tests and calculations are performed correctly and record in the laboratory workbook all raw data/calculations for test performed
- Request samples as and when required and ensure calibrations schedule for monthly standards designed to assist process control is adhered to
- Reporting opinions and interpretations of test data. Development, modification and validation of new and existing methods
- Adherence to health and safety policies. Ensure good housekeeping is always practiced
- Maintain the quality systems and adhere to company policies i.e. compliance, safety etc. Identify trends of analytical results produced
- Ensure professional communication with clients as and when required
- Available for call out or standby duties, overtime or rotational shift work when required
- Ensure there is sufficient stock of chemicals, glassware, stationery and other items
- Ensure all equipment is well maintained and calibrated
- Laboratory training manuals comprising of theory and practical assignments to be completed within timeframes given by Laboratory Management
- Write technical reports and draw logical and coherent conclusions from test data obtained
- Able to capture test results using the laboratory test data management system

Criteria:

- Min. National Diploma in Analytical Chemistry/Food Technology/Biotechnology
- Computer literate using Microsoft Word and Excel
- Grade 12 with Mathematics and Physical Science

**Salary**: R7,000.00 - R9,000.00 per month

Ability to commute/relocate:

- La Lucia, KwaZulu-Natal: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (required)
