Are you a skilled underwriter seeking a new challenge? Look no further Cornerstone Financial Services is seeking a talented and motivated individual to join our team as a Commercial Underwriter. As a key member of our Insurance Broker division, you'll work directly under our operational director and play a vital role in managing client claims, ensuring division compliance, and driving successful underwriting practices.

**Job Profile**: In this role, you'll be responsible for a wide range of critical tasks, including handling client claims, ensuring division compliance with quality standards and the FAIS Code of Conduct, and performing underwriting activities. Additionally, you'll take charge of specific division administrative duties, such as monthly account reconciliation, providing support to the Operational Director, and maintaining essential records. Your expertise and attention to detail will be instrumental in delivering exceptional service to our clients.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Compliance: Ensure adherence to quality standards and the FAIS Code of Conduct to minimize PI exposure. Conduct quarterly compliance monitoring meetings and maintain Skills and Representative Registers.
- Underwriting: Conduct monthly renewals, negotiate policy terms with insurers, and present comparisons to clients. Escalate client cancellations and effectively analyze client coverage requirements.
- Portfolio Management: Monitor loss ratios, adhere to sound underwriting and portfolio management principles, and recommend corrective actions to clients.
- Administration: Address premium debit order queries, conduct monthly reconciliation for unpaid insurers, and ensure timely payments of commissions and fees.
- Client Relationships: Manage client relationships from onboarding to the end of their journey, communicate updates effectively, and provide solutions for client queries and concerns.
- Leadership: Manage and support your team, ensure deliverables and deadlines are met, identify areas of development, and provide feedback to foster growth and success.

**Qualifications and Skills**: To be considered for this role, you should meet the following minimum requirements:

- Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience as a Commercial Underwriter.
- Matriculation Certificate (Grade 12) or equivalent.
- Tertiary education in Insurance, Risk Management, or a related field is advantageous.
- Familiarity with relevant regulations, such as the FAIS Act and Code of Conduct.
- Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and the ability to make sound decisions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with clients and team members.
