**About the Role**

As part of the Economic and Financial Consulting team, you will be required to provide support on economic research projects during all phases of the work. This may involve proposal writing, data analyses, helping to draft research reports, preparing results for presentation, and ensuring that final deliverables have a professional 'look and feel'. You will be an integral member of the economics team, providing important input into projects within different sectors. Team members will rely on you for accuracy, critical thinking, and attention to detail. In return, you will get a front row seat to exciting developments in South Africa's economic policy and competition environment.

**What You'll Do**
- Conduct economic research
- Develop and maintain various input-output multiplier models
- Provide theoretically sound and well-researched reports/memos/presentations linking model outcomes to policy questions
- Perform data analysis and economic modelling
- Be a team member on engagements
- Help ensure that client needs are met within specified timelines
- Attend meetings and liaise with clients when requested
- Contribute to business development by providing support to proposals
- Stay up to date with developments in South Africa's policy and business environment

**Qualifications & Experience**
- Master's degree in economics with Mathematical Economics and/or Econometrics at a postgraduate level
- Strong interest in South Africa's policy environment
- Knowledge and experience in input-output multiplier analysis
- Experience in CGE modelling would be advantageous
- Knowledge of the System of National Accounts
- Knowledge and experience in developing and implementing simulations in large CGE models
- Good programming skills
- Good knowledge of the GAMS software and the IFPRI-type CGE models
- Knowledge and experience in economic policy analysis would be advantageous
- Ability to interpret complex economic analysis and present it in simpler terms
- Sound analytical reasoning and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to take the initiative and work well in a team
- Ability to work under pressure and meet client deadlines
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
- Strong quantitative skills and attention to detail
- High level of proficiency in using Microsoft Excel, Word and Powerpoint
- Strong work ethic and integrity and high level of professionalism.
- Willingness to travel when requested
