The UKZN School of Nursing and Public Health, Discipline of Public Health Medicine in

collaboration with the Africa Research Implementation Science and Education (ARISE)

Network, is seeking to employ 4 persons to fill the position of fieldworker for the

Adolescent Health Survey: harnessing longitudinal data & digital technologies to

improve adolescent health projects. The main purpose of the position will be to

facilitate research data collection on key adolescent health indicators.

Durban.

**Duties and responsibilities**
- Recruit and enroll adolescents (aged 10-19 years) from the study site,
- Collecting data using a standardized survey instrument,
- Perform a finger prick for a hemoglobin test to assess adolescent anaemia status

and measure height and weight
- Tracking and tracing selected adolescents for study activities
- Referring to appropriate health services where appropriate
- Assisting the research data supervisor in achieving all stipulated Quality Assurance

targets

**Minimum Requirements**
- Grade 12
- 2 years’ experience in administering surveys
- Computer Literacy (MS Office - Word, Excel & PowerPoint)
- Fluency in isiZulu and English,
- Good communication and interpersonal skills,
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines,
- Good problem-solving skills,
- Resides in Umlazi.

**Advantages**
- Degree in a relevant discipline, such as Public Health/ Psychology and Social

Work
- Good Clinical Practice (GCP) certification
- Experience in administering redcap interview batteries,
- Experience making home visits for research or follow-up purposes
- Research experience (home or community-based research)
- Have experience in working with adolescents,
- Basic clinical assessment (measuring weight, height, and hemoglobin)
