**Job Description**:

- The key purpose of the position is to support the section manager as well as the metallurgists in the department in achieving their objectives and to oversee the implementation of defined projects against approved scopes of work.

**Key responsibilities**:

- Support the Section Manager in maximising the value of mineral processing services to Anglo American.
- Understands the processes, working culture and challenges associated with mining and processing.
- Appreciates the impact of Technical Solutions on business performance.
- Prepare task assignments (defining context, purpose, quality, quantity and resources required) for projects, demonstrating the relevance of the project to the operation.
- Manage routine projects through close liaison with other members of the team.
- Collects and assesses evidence, generates and evaluates options and shares recommendations.
- Responsible for the acquisition of accurate data and high-quality technical reports delivered on schedule and within budget.
- Assist the Section Manager to schedule and conduct routine test work, projects and plant surveys if necessary.
- Assist the Section Manager with initial interpretation and analysis of results as part of assessing process performance of the operations.
- Continuously improve productivity and methods.
- Ensures that Safety, Health, Environment and Quality (SHEQ) issues are considered in all activities, with adherence to safety standards and procedures.
- Proactively identifies, monitors and mitigates SHEQ risks in accordance with Anglo American standards.
- Completion of risk management documentation.
- Ensures equipment that is not safe to use is properly locked out and isolated.
- Qualifications
- B.Sc. (Hons)/BEng in Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering or related Science.
- Intermediate computer skills.
- Driver’s license or capable of obtaining a driver’s license.
- Relevant laboratory or plant experience would be advantageous.
