We are looking for an experienced and qualified CA to perform the role of Assistant Group Accountant. The Group has a strong South African footprint but is also represented in the UK. Exposure to accounting standards in the UK will be a great advantage. The position will be based in South Africa (Cape Town / Johannesburg)

**Specific Tasks**

**Budgeting**
- Assist with and oversee the overall corporate budgeting preparation, financial management and financial monitoring processes.

**Financial Analysis and Reporting**
- Perform financial analysis, reporting and management activities.
- Ensure that the financial reports are prepared and delivered on time.
- Review financial data for accuracy, correctness and completeness.
- Generate financial reports related to budgets, account payables, account receivables, expenses, etc.
- Make sure annual financial statements are prepared and are appropriate before submission to the Board for ratification.

**Human Resources**
- Hire and train new employees on financial operations.
- Participate in performance evaluation of finance staff and conduct counselling sessions to identify skill development needs.
- Ensure accurate calculation and distribution of salaries and other benefits to employees.
- Perform the monthly Payroll run on the Payroll system.

**Financial management**
- Financial control of the Group and co-ordinate the financial activities of all entities through relevant departmental heads
- Monitor and manage all expenses within the allotted budgets.

**Strategic Analysis**
- Establish key financial strategies to enhance business profitability.

**Legal and regulatory**
- Ensure financial team follows the institutions policies and regulations.
- Comply with and keeping up to date with all the relevant tax laws & regulations and finance and finance related regulations, guidelines and codes of best practice.

**Systems & Procedures**
- Develop standard and new accounting procedures to improve financial operations efficiency.

**Review & reconciliation**
- Review annual budgets and recommend any changes if needed.
- Assist in account payable and receivable activities.
- Perform account reconciliation activities.

**Forecasting & Foresight**
- Establish accurate forecasts regarding expenses and revenues and manage regular reporting requirements.
- Input into New Business initiatives.

**Audit**
- Prepare the financial system and documentation for the external annual audit.

**Management Activities**
- Control of finances for Branches & Divisions which includes the following duties;
- Visits for financial/administrative matters,
- Financial management, travel arrangements
- Financial management of the Website related activities.
- Administration, financial management of data and execution of the strategic planning activities in relation to finance.
- Financial management of staff & staff benefits and staff stationed at Branches & Divisions.

**Administrative**
- Attend Executive Board meetings and give action to decisions related to matters of finance.
- Liaise with auditors in relation to preparing for annual general audit.
- Perform ad hoc administration duties
- Tax and other legislative submissions
- Monthly EMP201 reconciliation and submissions
- Perform VAT submissions for all entities
- EMP501 reconciliations and submission
- Preparation and submission of IRP5s

**Qualifications, requirements and advantages**
- Qualifications; Qualified CA(SA) status would be a distinct advantage.
- Registered with one (or more) of the following professional accounting industry organisations;
- The South African Institute of Chartered Accountants
- The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants
- Chartered Institute of Management Accountants
- South African Institute of Professional Accountants
- Institute of Administration and Commerce
- Institute of Certified Bookkeepers
- A minimum of 5 Years practical work experience as a CA with the requirement that the maximum allowed recent interval to have not been involved in the accounting industry to be set at 2 years.
- Exposure to UK Accounting Standards
- Proven ability in Sage One Payroll and Sage One Accounting System would be an advantage.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and team player.
- Proven leadership and management skills
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Ability to interact constructively with a diverse range of people
- Strong Excel skills
- Will report to Group COO and CFO
