Head of Exports and Sourcing

Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our company as the Head of Exports and Sourcing. As the leader of our exports and sourcing department, you will be responsible for developing and executing strategies to optimize our global supply chain, expand our export capabilities, and ensure the efficient sourcing of raw materials and finished goods. This role requires a deep understanding of international trade regulations, market dynamics, and procurement practices.

**Responsibilities**:
Strategic Planning:
Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy for the company's exports and sourcing operations.

Identify and evaluate potential markets and trading partners to expand our global presence.

Collaborate with executive management to align export and sourcing goals with overall business objectives.

Conduct market research to identify trends, pricing, and competitive landscape for products and materials.

Export Operations:
Oversee all aspects of the export process, including documentation, customs compliance, and shipping logistics.

Ensure adherence to international trade regulations, export controls, and licensing requirements.

Collaborate with internal stakeholders, such as sales, logistics, and finance, to ensure seamless export operations.

Establish and maintain relationships with freight forwarders, customs brokers, and other relevant service providers.

Sourcing and Supplier Management:
Develop and implement a robust sourcing strategy to ensure a reliable and cost-effective supply of raw materials, components, and finished goods.

Identify potential suppliers, conduct supplier evaluations, negotiate contracts, and manage supplier relationships.

Monitor supplier performance, quality, and delivery to ensure compliance with agreed-upon terms and conditions.

Continuously evaluate and optimize the supplier base to improve quality, cost, and efficiency.

Risk Management and Compliance:
Identify and mitigate risks associated with exports, sourcing, and international trade.

Stay updated on global trade regulations, tariffs, sanctions, and compliance requirements.

Develop and implement internal controls and processes to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.

Conduct periodic audits and assessments to identify areas for improvement and ensure adherence to policies and procedures.

Team Leadership and Development:
Build and lead a high-performing team of exports and sourcing professionals.

Provide guidance, mentoring, and training to team members to enhance their skills and capabilities.

Set clear performance expectations, conduct regular performance reviews, and recognize achievements.

Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment that promotes teamwork and innovation.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in international business, supply chain management, or a related field. A master's degree is preferred.

Proven experience in leading exports and sourcing functions, preferably in a multinational company.

Strong knowledge of international trade regulations, export controls, and customs procedures.

Proficient in managing complex export logistics, including documentation, shipping, and customs compliance.

Demonstrated experience in strategic sourcing, supplier management, and contract negotiations.

Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

Strong leadership abilities with the capability to motivate and develop a diverse team.

Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Familiarity with trade management software and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.

**Salary**: R40,000.00 - R65,000.00 per month

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Observatory, Western Cape: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (required)
