**Job Title: CLTP LEGO Play Facilitator**
**Reports To: Centre Support and Training Manager**

**Location: West Coast**

The Early Learning Resource Unit (ELRU) is an NGO within the Early Childhood Development sector located in Lansdowne, Cape Town. ELRU’s vision is to give every child in South Africa a good start in life while providing holistic support to the child through enabling access to an integrated package of quality ECD services. **Position Overview**

To assist in the ongoing implementation of the ‘play to learn’ initiative in the communities ELRU serves, working with caregivers and educators to create opportunities for children to learn through play. Capture all the information relating to the caregivers on an app.

**Main Job Responsibilities**
- Attend all meetings including weekly meetings or any other meetings deemed relevant by the Training Manager.
- Recruit caregivers who qualify to receive training.
- Plan the training requirements including sourcing and securing facilities, preparing the venue and arranging catering.
- Work closely with the caregivers on the ‘Learn through Play’ methodology and facilitate age-appropriate activities that engage children and caregivers in the play and learning experience.
- Deliver exemplary play and learning training to model positive, educational, creative and respectful ways to interact with children and their caregivers through play.
- Participate in daily set-up and clean-up of facilities.
- Ensure the target of training for 50 caregivers per week is achieved.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of the training through post-assessment.
- Provide recommendations for budget realignments as required.
- Perform any other tasks relevant to the project as deemed necessary by the Manager.

**Pre Requisite for the Position**
- Based in West Coast
- Professional experience in training and facilitation, particularly concerning play-based, early learning approaches for children birth to 6 years.
- A passion for community development work and making a difference in the lives of children.
- Demonstrated interest and ability to work with children and families from a diversity of backgrounds.
- Maintain quality interaction with caregivers and children.
- Good organisation skills and innovation.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Ability to take direction well and work without constant supervision.
- Good communication skills.
- Comfortable engaging with large groups and also able to engage one-on-one with community and municipal members.
- Fluency in one or more indigenous languages of South Africa is an advantage.
- Early Childhood Development (ECD) experience.
- Great time management skills.

**Preferred Qualifications**:

- Matric
- NQF Level 5 ECD Qualification or higher
- Caregiver Learning Through Play (CLTP) certification
- Based in West Coast
- 5+ years of professional work experience in community development
- Early Childhood Development (ECD) experience
