Barista

**PURPOSE**

The Barista is the person responsible for the quality of all caffé made in store according to the standards set by vida e caffé.

**JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
- **Cleaning front of house**:_
- Surfaces and counters
- Chemical management equipment
- Coffee machine - general
- Coffee machine - daily backwashing
- Port filters and steam wands
- Grinders and brushes
- Tamp and knock box
- Milk jugs and thermometers
- Deep cleaning equipment
- **Maintaining front of house**:_
- Condiments station
- Sending area
- Stock rotation procedures
- Packaging top-up and organising
- Variables/parameters on caffé
- **Conducting and completing checklists**:_
- Opening and closing
- Espresso machine cleaning & backwashing
- Daily/weekly deep clean
- **Preparing Caffe**:_
- All caffè products
- Strict adherence to Standard Operating Procedures
- Assisting customers’ on caffè selection
- Communicating using company jargon
- Barista calls duty instructions for Meza
- Assisting both the Meza & Food Specialist on all duties, according to the respective job descriptions

**REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS**
- Grade 12 / Matric pass
- Previous work experience in Retail / Hospitality or QSR
- Significant work experience as a Barista
- Outstanding communication skills with colleagues and customers
- Good command of the English language, both verbal and written
- Good understanding of customer service and hospitality principles
- Able to work in a high-pressured environment
- Able to work overtime as required operationally
- A neat personal appearance and good hygiene
- Be able to work independently, as well as part of a team
- Strong organisational skills, including the ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize work
- Be willing and able to openly interact with customers and participate in team camaraderie
- Able to assist, coach and motivate
- Passionate, driven and self-motivated individual
