Maintenance Artisan

**Job Advert Summary**:

- The incumbent is responsible for coordinating and/or allocation of work and/or supervision and/or direct management the work activities of subordinates.
- Ability to detect pending breakdowns on all hatcheries and farms related machinery and equipment to prevent loss and down time.
- Must be able to speak, read and write English fluently.
- Must be well familiar with related trade terminology.
- Must be able to take charge as an appointed GMR2 machine requirements and be assertive in that role.
- Must be able to talk over a 2-way radio system.

**Minimum Requirements**:

- Electrical Trade Certificate
- Drivers licence Code 8
- Wireman’s License (Optional)
- 15 years’ experience in mechanical and civil related fields
- Red Ticket Trade Certificate.
- Advanced electrical experience. Preferably PLC experience.
- General Mechanical and Civil experience and ability to understand mechanical and civil projects.
- Must understand advanced electricity. AC & DC-, & knowledge of PLC and electronic systems, must be able to read electrical drawings.
- Must have knowledge of GMR2 laws and regulations.
- General Refrigeration experience.
- OHS & ENV systems experience.
- General Ground maintenance experience.
- Must be technical minded with a passion for the profession.
- Must be able to do physical work with their hands.

**Duties and Responsibilities**:
**Mechanical, Civil and Electrical**
- Inspection of machinery and equipment as per supplier requirements set out in the maintenance manuals
- Planning of work according to maintenance plan and schedule and per breakdown
- Maintenance and repair of all Agriculture related machinery and equipment in accordance to the maintenance plan and schedule
- Repair of Agriculture related machinery and equipment per breakdown
- Render assistance to handyman on faults that cannot be solved on their level of required competence
- Daily inspection of all work completed at Agriculture including residential buildings and issuing of certificate of compliance

**General**
- Training and development of maintenance handyman under direct control to artisan level
- Discipline of maintenance handyman under direct control
- Daily issuing of certificate of compliance on any machine or equipment where any engineering related work was executed
- Issue daily job cards and inspect work executed
- Daily time sheets
- Order equipment and spares in terms of the BR and SSR Process
- Training and development of all personnel under direct control as per departmental training and development plans
- Perform standby duties
