Paver / Bricklayer

Maritz Electrical is currently recruiting for a Paver.

**DUTIES**

**Equipment Operation**:

- Operate paving equipment and hand tools, such as trowels, brooms, spirit levels, rubber mallets, asphalt primer (Brush and Spray), Rakes, Rammers (manual and motorised), Plate compactors, Asphalt cutters (handheld and cart type)
- Construct formwork for Kiosk Plinths and bases including structural metal mesh for reinforcing.
- Ensure finishes of casted plinths are achieved and that levels are correct in relation to NGL / FFL

**Surface Preparation**:

- Coordinate with the construction team to ensure the proper preparation of the work area before paving ensuring levels, compaction, slope are all in order.
- Ensure wetting of formwork and mixing of small batches of concrete per hand or using a mixer are within specification per mixing charts.

**Material Placement**:

- Load and unload paving materials, such as asphalt or concrete, primer, pavers, sand, cement stone etc.
- Loading of rubble from site to be disposed off.
- Control the distribution of materials to achieve the desired thickness and level of the finished surface.

**Quality Control**:

- Monitor and maintain the quality of the finished surface by regularly checking for proper alignment, grade, and thickness.
- Make adjustments to the equipment settings as needed to address any issues.

**REQUIREMENTS**
- Matric / NCV Level 4 / Equivalent Qualification - **Non Negotiable**
- Ability to work well under pressure
- Trade Tested in Bricklaying
- Drivers Licence and fit to drive - **Non Negotiable**
- **2 Years relevant experience** - **Non Negotiable**
- Capable of working in a team and in the greater Western Cape area or away from home from time to time.
- Operating a petrol/diesel driven generator set
