We are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual as an au pair for a 13-year-old, Grade 7 teenager based in Edgemead, Cape Town. This part-time position offers a rewarding opportunity to support the educational and emotional growth of a highly intelligent, nature-loving child.

Working Hours:
Monday - Thursday: 13:45 - 17:00 with some flexibility and possible option for Friday (to be negotiated)

**Responsibilities**:

- Provide support to the student in their areas of difficulty, while also instructing them in the context and framework necessary for specific academic tasks or writing assessments.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents and other professionals to implement individualized strategies and accommodations for his learning and studying style that are supportive of his individual needs.
- Understanding the child’s sensory profile and being flexible and creative to adapting to his individual needs.
- Assist with collecting the child from school and taking him to extra mural activities.
- Able to assist with scribing and reading if required at school during the exam period (this would be an advantage).
- Encourage his interests in nature and possibly use them creatively to help him with his school work.
- Encourage him and assist with building his social and life skills through incidental learning using a low arousal approach.
- Be able to assist the child with managing his anxiety levels and help him to stay regulated.
- Help him engage with his 10 year old brother in positive ways.
- Support his brother with Afrikaans homework and projects, as needed.

**Requirements**:

- Fluency in English.
- To adopt a low arousal approach.
- Experience working with the CAPS curriculum for primary school - specifically Grade 7 would be an advantage.
- Genuine interest in working with neurodivergent children.
- Previous experience in a similar role or working with children with autism is preferred.
- You will need to have a neuro-affirming approach to neurodiversity.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to adapt teaching strategies to suit the student's learning style.
- Strong executive functioning and time management skills.
- Experience working in the school environment or tutoring is an advantage.
- Valid Driver’s license and reliable car.
