**Job Description**:

- As a SHIRA Specialist your responsibilities will include:
**Safety & Health**
- Take personal responsibility for safety of self and others to ensure zero harm and elimination of fatalities
- Identify specific risks within working area and adhere to discipline-specific plans/system to avoid these risks

**Performance & Delivery**
- Operational planning
- Develop detailed response plan for priority unwanted events

**Work management**
- Develop detailed response plan for priority unwanted events
- Conduct proactive base line survey with communities to identify cultural heritage sites
- Receive input from cultural heritage register provided by SAHRA
- Draft 'Chance Find Procedure'
- Supervise construction work at cultural heritage sites
- Create Cultural Heritage Management Plan
- Implement control mechanisms as specified in the Cultural Heritage Management Plan
- Get approval from SAHRA if required
- Advise on how to react in case of cultural heritage issues

**Feedback**
- Monitor management measures to social risks
- Advise on risk issues to operational head of the function
- Identify key social and economic impacts and issues

**Sustainability & social**
- Drive delivery the sustainability activities as relevant to discipline and set out in the Life of Asset Plan to improve sustainability performance over time
- Put in place sufficient physical and financial resources and coordinate delivery of Sustainable Mining Plan commitments relevant to discipline

**People & Teams**
- Support the development of, and ultimately implement, a purpose-led, high-performing culture within the teams that is aligned with the company values, is inclusive and promotes diversity
- Implement management processes for employee & contractor management within work area
- Develop team members

**Compliance**
- Ensure compliance of the discipline with external (legislative, regulatory, permitting) requirements
- Ensure compliance of the discipline with Anglo American compliance requirements
- Manage appeals to social incident procedure
- Develop appropriate commitment policy

**This role is in the Corporate Affairs & Sustainable Impact department at a Band 6 level reporting to the Corporate Affairs & Sustainable Impact Manager**
- Qualifications
- Post graduate qualification in Social Sciences Degree or equivalent qualifications
- Qualification in Integrated Social Impact Assessments
- Training / qualification in Gender and Development studies
- Rural Participatory Facilitation
- Communication and/or public relations
- Business / Project Management qualifications (advantageous)

**Experience and knowledge required**:

- Minimum of 6 years Development Management experience of which at least two should be in a Mining environment
- Project management fundamentals
- Business improvement tools and techniques
- Basic financial metrics, cost and value management & budgeting tools
- Systems maintenance
- Compliance: Safety, health and environment, legislative, statutory, regulatory and permitting requirements
