**Job Purpose**:
The Department of Environmental Affairs and Development Planning, Western Cape Government has an opportunity fo a suitably qualified and competent individual to perform relevant technical Geographic Information Science (GISc) activities that results in the capturing, collection and maintenance of geographic data in the public service. This post is based in Cape Town, CBD.
**Minimum Requirements**:
An appropriate 3-year National Diploma in GISc, Cartography or relevant qualification; A minimum of 3 years post qualification technical (GISC) experience; Compulsory registration with the South African Geomatics Council as a GISc Technician; A valid driving licence.
**Recommendation**:
Experience and knowledge in GIS associated software and platform, specifically ESRI products.
**Key Performance Areas**:
Perform technical GISc activities; Lead and Support GIS Projects; Maintain GIS Unit Effectiveness; Peoples Management; Functional requirement analysis; GIS Marketing, Research and Training; Application of legislation pertaining to spatial data.

**Remuneration**:
Grade A: R353 013 - R 376 806 per annum, Grade B: R 398 865 - R 428 619 per annum, Grade C: R 451 587 - R 531 117 per annum (OSD as prescribed).
Note on remuneration: Cost-to-employer (CTE) remuneration packages for certain occupation-specific dispensations (OSD), the middle-management service (MMS) and contract positions are inclusive of all costs related to service benefits or obligations including basic salary, 13th cheque, medical assistance, housing assistance, pension-fund contributions, etc. MMS remuneration packages are flexible and may be individually structured as prescribed. Where remuneration is not indicated as CTE, employees' service benefits or obligations are funded or co-funded in terms of the applicable prescripts or collective agreements.
