Senior Mechanical Buyer

Senior Buyer needed to source products and establish and maintain effective relationships with the suppliers. Identify alternative suppliers both locally and internationally. Expedite timeous deliveries of parts and participate in the negotiating of contracts, agreements, and letters of intent to obtain favourable prices, terms and conditions for products and services.

Job description / core competencies:
Sourcing

Process orders in accordance with ERP/MRP and/or project requirements.

Process requisitions through to purchase orders as required for indirect materials or services requirements.

Identify alternative suppliers both locally and internationally.

Expedite timeous deliveries of parts.

Liaise with Suppliers to contain costs and enhance delivery.

Establish and maintain effective relationships with the suppliers in accordance with the ethical code and standards of conduct maintaining the highest standard of professionalism.

Negotiation

Determine quantity and timing of deliveries.

Negotiate volume discounts with key suppliers.

Research and anticipate shifts in the negotiating power of suppliers.

Participate in the negotiating of contracts, agreements, and letters of intent to obtain favourable prices, terms and conditions for products and services.

Reporting

Research and analyse information and develop new cost-effective sources.

Track and report savings for each executed strategy.

Together with the Supply Chain Manager, effectively balance administrative burden, cost savings and risk/ liability.

Report on monthly savings per project.

Evaluating supplier performance (price, OTD, lead time, quality).

**Job Qualifications, Skills & Experience**:
Required Qualification

National Diploma in Supply Chain/Purchasing (or equivalent).

Required knowledge and experience

5 years’ experience in a similar position or as Sourcing Specialist in a manufacturing environment. International experience essential.

Experienced in the procurement of in-house designed mechanical items including tools and die sets for moulds.

Effectively manage the procurement of strategic suppliers.

Ensure maximisation of supplier performance and cost effectiveness supporting the company’s strategic initiatives.

Ability to plan and prioritize a wide variety of activities.

Work cross-functionally within a matrix organisational team structure and work on multiple projects simultaneously.

Must be able to work under pressure, solve problems and deal with a particularly demanding management.

Must demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness.

Provide training to others.

- procurement of mechanical items for moulds: 5 years (preferred)

License/Certification:

- National Diploma in Supply Chain/Purchasing (or equivalent). (preferred)
