Role description

Mentoring of interns and officials within the legal and compliance unit;
Enforce the relevant provisions of the Architectural Profession Act No.44 of 2000, including the Rules and the Code of Conduct to ensure compliance with the law;
Ensure that criminal actions are instituted against errant persons who practice architecture without having registered with the SACAP in the prescribed categories of architectural profession;
Ensure that the institution of disciplinary processes against errant registered persons is conducted in accordance with the Act;
Conduct training and/or awareness campaigns for both internal and external stakeholders to ensure understanding of the Act, the Rules and the Code of Conduct;
Represent the SACAP as a pro-forma complainant at the disciplinary tribunal hearings;
Responsible for pre-hearing, post-disciplinary hearing and appeal processes;
Represent the SACAP in internal and external appeal proceedings;
Conduct legal research to remain abreast with the relevant and applicable laws;
Establish and maintain relations with key internal and external stakeholders to ensure support and cooperation within the industry;
Prepare ad-hoc reports for submission to the legal management, committees of council and other stakeholders as requested by Legal Management;
Prepare monthly and quarterly reports for submission to the Legal Management;
Responsible for sanction enforcement processes;
Provision of legal advisory services;
Identify key risks within area of responsibility and develop risk mitigation mechanisms to mitigate such risks.;
Monitor compliance with the regulatory universe and update the compliance register;
Provide support in legislative and policy review processes;
Provide legal support to internal and external stakeholders; and
Provide support to the Legal and Compliance Unit.
**Requirements**:
LLB qualification (NQF Level 7)
Minimum of five years post-qualification experience in criminal and/or civil litigation, two years of which must be experience acquired at regional court or high court level.
Experience as a prosecutor will be an added advantage.
Experience in guiding investigations, Case management, Legal drafting, Review and appeals, Recoveries, Dispute resolution, Risk mitigation and time management.
In this position, you will be reporting to the senior manager legal and compliance
