We are looking for a dynamic Food Buyer who will be responsible for forecasting, purchasing, and managing inventory to ensure optimal stock levels while adhering to financial goals and maintaining strong supplier relationships.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- **Forecasting and Inventory Management**:
- Develop and implement comprehensive forecasting strategies for yearly, quarterly, monthly and weekly stock requirements.
- Consider factors such as special events, seasonality, trends, past sales, time of month/day of week, supplier credit terms, availability, and product shelf life for efficient inventory management.
- **Purchasing Operations**:
- Order Management:
- Inventory Purchasing (PO) (price, qty, dates, time, logistics, vendor, item)
- Ensure all purchase orders get approved before being issued to the supplier
- Clearing Agent / Logistics department / Supplier liaising
- Create purchase orders, liaise with Domestic and Imported suppliers, and collaborate with the logistics team and transporters.
- Ensure compliance with standard operating procedures and adhere to approval processes for all purchasing activities.
- **Financial Optimization**:
- Continuously improve financial aspects of purchasing, focusing on inventory days and cash flow management within set budgets.
- Completing and verifying Import and Domestic Landed costings and getting sign off from the supervisor.
- Ensure all price changes are timeously communicated to the Cost Controller
- **Documentation and Communication**:
- Monitor and follow up on credit notes, outstanding invoices, waybills, and other relevant documentation.
- Maintain accurate records and communicate promptly regarding supplier stock status and estimated time of arrival.
- **Administration Tasks**:
- Compile monthly import submissions to the relevant government bodies
- Master data administration: loading and updating item codes for approval by supervisor
- **Cross-Functional Collaboration**:
- Collaborate closely with other departments, including sales, accounts, and logistics, to ensure smooth operations.
- Help in other areas of the company as needed.
- **Continuous Professional Development**:
- Stay updated on industry trends and continuously improve product knowledge.
- Share acquired knowledge with colleagues to enhance the overall competency of the team.
**Qualifications and Skills**:
- Tertiary qualification in business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field preferred, or equivalent experience.
- Proven experience as a Food Buyer or in a similar role.
- Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of inventory management software.
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and analytical abilities.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.
**Salary**: R12 000,00 - R15 000,00 per month
