News Editor

Health-e news service seeks to appoint a news editor, to be based in Johannesburg. The editor will report directly to the managing editor.

**Duties**:
Guide the news agenda in consultation with the managing editor, including identifying topics of coverage for health reporters, citizen journalists and freelancers.
Develop and coordinate national reporting projects
Oversee Health-e News web presence, including the official website. Work closely with digital manager on social media strategy. This will include loading stories and assisting in social media posting
Manage staff and freelance reporters, providing extensive editorial input
Work with the citizen journalists network to improve the quality of citizen journalist copy
Edit copy from staff, citizen journalists and freelance reporters
Occasional writing required
