Our client is seeking a **Family Physician** in Tokai to co-lead the team of medical officers in conjunction with the current Family Physician.

**Duties include but are not limited to**:

- Reviewing admissions admitted by the medical officers: thorough initial consultation to collate investigations and treatment to date and review current management.
- Providing advice to medical officers on patients they are managing.
- Willingness to do weekend ward rounds and be on telephonic after-hours cover for your own patients during the week.
- Dealing and managing patient / family complaints.
- Reviewing incident reports (e.g. where a patient deteriorated) and assisting with monthly morbidity and mortality meetings.
- Assisting with audits to ensure most up-to-date evidence-based medicine is practiced.
- Organizing weekend call rosters and distributing the relevant notice to staff members.
- Assisting with recruitment of new medical officers / locums and probationary reviews of new doctors.
- Managing orientation of new medical officers.
- Ensure that regular clinical excellence reviews of permanent medical officers are received.
- Giving input where needed to medical/nursing guidelines and procedures.
- Coordinating training of medical officers.
- Clinical governance: weekly clinical meetings on current guidelines, antibiotic stewardship meetings, monthly journal club, ensuring equal access to CPD activities.

**Requirements**:

- Family medicine accreditation with HPCSA.
- MPS / insurance membership and active HPCSA registration.
- Experience and interest in internal medicine, geriatrics, and palliative care is beneficial.
- Experience in private healthcare is beneficial.
- Willing to work within a multidisciplinary and nursing team environment.

**Specific Requirements**:

- Clear health record.

**Working Hours**:
Weekdays 09h00-18h00 onsite

Weekends: 08h00 until patient rounds are completed (two weekend days a month for approximately 5 hours. A weekday afternoon is offered off to compensate for each weekend day worked).

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: R100,000.00 - R120,000.00 per year
