Electrician Switchgear

Our client in the commercial electrical construction industry is looking for a dynamic Switchgear Electrician.
This role is based in Johannesburg and will report to the Project Manager.
**Basic Requirements**:
Formal Tertiary Education: Qualified Electrical with Switchgear certificate or training.
**Training - cable termination preferred.**
Valid driver’s Licence.
The client is interested in 3 - 5 Years of trained electrical HV cable joining and termination experience.
**Key responsibilities**:
Inspection and testing of Switchgear electrical installations.
Reading and interpretation of electrical site plans (technical drawings).
Reading technical diagrams and blueprints.
Installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical control, wiring, and lighting systems.
Performing general electrical maintenance.
Inspecting transformers, circuit breakers, and other electrical components.
Troubleshooting electrical issues using appropriate testing devices.
Repairing and replacing equipment, electrical wiring, and fixtures.
Following national and local building regulations.
Performing circuit breaker corrective maintenance.
Maintaining good knowledge of heating and air conditioning systems as well as various testing equipment.
Ensure that electrical installations are in compliance with legislation, standards and project specific standards, including managing all required documentation.
Reporting technical issues.
Qualifications and experience:
**Qualified Switchgear Electrician.**
At least 2 years of experience as a Switchgear repairs and Maintenance Electrician or similar position.
Certificate/Training in Switchgear Maintenance
Certified to issue 3-phase Certificates of Compliance.
Wireman’s license would be advantageous.
Previous data centre experience would be advantageous.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent fault-finding skills.
Attention to detail.
Ability to work independently.
