**JOB TITLE**:Financial Controller: Operations

**OFFICE LOCATION**: Cape Town/ Johannesburg, South Africa

Reporting directly to the Finance Director, this role supports the day-to-day management of project activities (South and East Africa regions) to provide all financial and commercial services to the customers. The purpose of the Financial Controller Projects (“FCP”) is to coordinate, manage and execute financial accounting and reporting processes, ensure compliance with lender and shareholder agreements, including period close, statistical and statutory reporting and transactional accounting for all project companies. Along with internal and external audit and preparation of AFS and the preparation of other financial reports that summarise and forecast the financial position. The FCP works closely with the finance and construction teams in South Africa, Kenya and Tanzania as well as future teams in new regions.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Ensure compliance to lender, shareholder and other contractors’ agreements
- Examine and analyse financial information and present findings (written and verbal) to senior management and Directors
- Review and update of financial models with actual results, tracking and reporting on variances
- Management of cashflow and working capital including debt payments, shareholder distributions, accounts payable and receivable
- Prepare board and other stakeholder reports as required.
- Accountability for the execution of Business level financial reporting process
- Preparation and submission of financial statements that are compliant applicable financial reporting standards
- Monitors compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and accounting interpretations
- Management of Auditors and other corporate and financial advisors
- Completion of audits in line with group reporting requirements
- BBBEE reporting requirements and audits
- Responsible for internal and external financial reporting requirements
- Improvement of reports to align to the changing business needs and requirements
- Management of project lender relationship including regular reporting, evaluation of finance charges and management of debt.
- Ensure robust financial systems and processes are in place, making suggestions for enhancements where needed
- Respond on a timely basis to all significant and unusual incidents, events and correspondence impacting operations
- Oversees the creation, interpretation, and implementation of financial accounting policies applicable to construction

**Monthly**
- Accountable for the overall trial balance and including the review of reconciliations
- Monthly financial reports, coordinating short term cash forecasting and operational performance KPIs
- Coordinates the period end close process
- Responsible for governance and integration of all financial systems (ERP, Treasury, marketing, forecasting etc)
- Perform consolidation and other journal entries as well as financial reporting & budget/model forecast to actual variance analysis for group project companies (currently South Africa, Kenya & Tanzania).

**- Banking**:

- review payments to ensuring appropriate supporting documents and correct payment terms are applied
- approval of payments in line with delegated authority
- approval of beneficiaries and general maintenance within the accounts
- Manages transactional accounting and processing activities, including cash, payroll, fixed assets, debtors, creditors and revenue accounting.
- Process forex transactions (different currencies within the group)

**Budgeting**
- Preparation of budgets, forecast and business plans in line with model assumptions

**Compliance**
- Assist with all Company secretarial duties and compliance matters for project company entities (with assistance from local advisers as necessary)
- Accurate and timeously tax, imports/exports, WHT & vat filings for project companies entities.

**Other**
- Other areas of responsibility: company insurance, licensing, contracts and agreements management, major supplier/customer relationships relating to projects
- Ensure appropriate filing system (invoices, expense claims, company contracts) for project companies.
- Adhoc duties and reporting as directed
