The _HSRC Review_ is the organisation’s official news publication with four quarterly editions per year. An electronic version is published on the HSRC website.

The publication contains articles based on our research and other activities and is aimed at all parties which are - in one way or another - concerned with the organisation and its work.

Readers include government officials, funders, development agencies, academics, diplomats, students, media and many others.

The publication is aimed at the informed public, but our readers are not necessarily experts in any specific field. Therefore, the intention is to use plain, accessible English.

**Minimum Requirements**:
**Key requirements**
- Ability to proof read English text at the level of a 1st language English speaker and willingness to demonstrate this capability in a test on a Pdf document.
- At least 2 years’ proof-reading experience of text in Pdf format, over and above any general writing experience
- Preferably experience as member of a newspaper or magazine subediting team
- Preferably experience in proof reading communication material based on academic, technical or scientific content

**Duties and Responsibilities**:
**Key responsibilities**
- Proof reading of Pdf version of the _HSRC Review_, which is normally between about 10 000 and 25 000 words (24 - 56 Pdf pages).
- Correction of serious spelling, language and grammar errors
- Checking for indications that text was lost or cut off during layout
- Check and proof read all captions, headlines and pull quotes.
- Check text used in graphs
- Generally focusing on finer details throughout the document
