**Job Type**: Part-Time (Half-day shifts)
**Responsibilities**:
- Provide attentive and compassionate care for the autistic toddler during scheduled half-day shifts.
- Create a safe and nurturing environment that promotes the child's overall well-being and development.
- Implement strategies and techniques that support the child's unique learning and behavioral needs.
- Assist the child with daily activities, including mealtime, dressing, toileting, and personal hygiene.
- Engage the child in age-appropriate play, sensory activities, and educational exercises tailored to their abilities.
- Follow any prescribed therapies or interventions as directed by the child's parents or therapists.
- Monitor and document the child's progress, behaviors, and any changes in their condition.
- Collaborate with the child's parents to ensure consistency in routines, strategies, and goals.
- Maintain open and effective communication with the child's parents, providing regular updates and discussing any concerns or improvements.
- Adhere to the family's guidelines, routines, and household rules.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Previous experience working with children who have learning disabilities, specifically autism, is required.
- A solid understanding of autism spectrum disorders and familiarity with evidence-based approaches and interventions.
- Patience, empathy, and the ability to establish a strong rapport with children with special needs.
- Excellent observational and communication skills, both verbal and written.
- The ability to adapt quickly to changing situations and implement strategies accordingly.
- Certification in first aid and CPR is highly desirable.
- Fluency in English is required; proficiency in additional languages is a plus.
**Job Type**: Part-time
**Salary**: R50.00 - R150.00 per hour
Ability to commute/relocate:
- Germiston, Gauteng: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (required)
**Experience**:
- Child care: 1 year (preferred)
