The Quantitative Analyst is accountable to the **Chief Knowledge & Digital Officer **of the Coega Development Corporation (CDC) through the **Unit Head: Research Unit**.
- MANDATE
- The Quantitative Analyst is mandated by the Chief Knowledge & Digital Officer - ICT, Research and Strategy to take responsibility of ensuring increased responsiveness and continuous improvement on the day-to-day operations of the Unit of the CDC.
- DESCRIPTION3 RESPONSIBILITIES AND OBLIGATIONS

The primary objective of the Quantitative Analyst is to assist the team in providing accurate and clear analysis that will assist the organization in optimizing opportunities. The Quantitative Analyst will be required to work within a multidisciplinary team and will assist the unit to conduct market research and economic analysis. This role requires an innovative thinker who can:

- Provide accurate results to be used for decision making;
- Design Mathematical/Statistical models for decision-making processes;
- Provide technical support on the design of selected Project impact evaluations (financial and Economic) using Mathematical/statistical, quantitative economic and financial models;
- Assist as needed in preparations for surveys and qualitative research initiatives;
- Conduct data analysis for impact evaluation and other analytical outputs using Statistical packages, including data management and cleaning tasks; inspect, perform logic and consistency checks on, clean, merge, and transform raw data; run regression analysis and produce tables, figures, and other analytical outputs with minimum supervision;
- Present completed work both internally and externally with minimum supervision;
- Be able to compile Business Case and Project concepts with minimum supervision;
- Collect primary and secondary data to produce high quality and timely research deliverables;
- Gather Information and data through desktop research and various other methods;
- Interpret findings of research and communicate these effectively, both verbally and in writing;
- Be able to interact with all structures of the organization for input and presentations;
- Present research work both internally and externally with minimum supervision;
- Undertake other duties as required to commensurate with the level of this post.

4 COMPETENCIES AND REQUIREMENTS
- An Honors degree in Operations Research, Financial Mathematics, Financial Economics, Econometrics or equivalent;
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar environment;
- Experience in a consulting environment will be an advantage;
- Willingness to travel;
- Experience involving economic analysis, forecasting of macroeconomic and financial variables, econometric modelling or generation of macroeconomic scenarios;
- Solid knowledge of macroeconomic and financial indicators, and an understanding of models that can be used for impact analysis or forecasting;
- Strong knowledge in Microsoft Excel and knowledge of statistical modelling software;
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and synthesizing skills;
- Team-oriented but able to complete tasks independently to a high standard;
- A strong communicator, able to explain technical topics clearly and confidently to a non-technical audience;
- Proactive, structured, organized, and detail-oriented;
- Strong writing skills.

**Furthermore, you are to ensure that**:

- You are aware of and have access to the CDC’s SHEMS;
- You are aware of your responsibilities and duties as laid out in the CDC’s SHEMS;
- You are aware that you work in a safe and environmentally friendly manner;
- You ensure that the company’s housekeeping standards are maintained throughout your area of responsibility;
- You report any unsafe conditions or acts which you cannot rectify yourself to your SHE representative or to the Senior SHE Project Manager as soon as possible;
- You report all SHE incidents which occur within your area of responsibility promptly and in the correct format;
- You are totally familiar with your responsibilities in terms of the CDC’s emergency plan;
- You communicate to the Senior SHE Project Manager any required changes to the SHEMS prior to implementing these changes;
- You timeously complete and correctly record any corrective action which needs to be taken in order to rectify a SHE matter;
- You give full co-operation to, and participate in (as required), the CDC’s internal and external SHEMS audits.

**You have the authority to**:

- Immediately stop any person(s) on CDC property from committing an unsafe or destructive act or omission;
- Take whatever immediate steps you deem necessary to prevent injury or environmental damage.
