Handyman/cleaner

**Position: Handyman/Cleaner (Male)**

**Duties & Responsibilities**
- To take responsibility for upholding and complying with the School’s Equality and Diversity policies and for behaving in ways that are consistent with fair and equal treatment for all.
- To comply with all School Health and Safety policies.
- **Maintenance**:

- Basic knowledge of the following: woodwork, plumbing, welding, electronics, electrical works
- Basic knowledge of the following: small building works
- Able to do repairs and new projects as needed
- Basic knowledge of Health and Safety (safe practices and safety checks)
- **Cleaning**:

- Experience in cleaning in a school environment will be an advantage
- Knowledge of different cleaning products and tools
- Basic knowledge of Health and Safety (safe practices and safety checks)
- Gardening experience will be an advantage

**Post requirements**:

- Fluent in English
- Ability to communicate in Afrikaans will be an advantage
- Strong team player.
- Strong analytical skills - perform well under pressure and able to solve problems
- Strong ethics - trustworthy, hard working, disciplined, motivated
- Strong Christian values
- Strong character - not afraid to work
- Strong physical abilities - need to be able to assist where and when needed. Need to be able to do physical cleaning/maintenance work. Also need to be able to move between schools and thrive in a fast paced environment
- Need to be able to think on your feet
- Need to be able to communicate well with staff, visitors and students on all levels.
- Need to be Teachable and willing to learn and grow
- Previous experience in a cleaning/maintenance environment
- Creativity
- Ability to follow instructions
- Good interpersonal skills
- Clear criminal record
