**Position Summary**

Perfection is at the heart of what we do, and our people are always looking for the next big idea to cement our status. We are now looking for a Microbiologists to be based in East London Factory.
In this role you will be responsible to carry out independently microbiological analyses (raw materials, line and environmental samples, non-conforming product, rework and finished product) pathogens and hygiene according to Nestlé-internal and official procedures based on classical techniques and rapid methods (e.g. Petri film). The analyst is responsible for preparation of the sample, analysis and reporting of results according to a strict work planning and GLP. Records are kept on equipment maintenance and chemicals/medium preparation to assure full traceability. Method performance is monitored by the analyst daily and verified through regular proficiency testing. May include any reasonable request to perform tasks outside this scope.
**A day in the life of a Microbiologist**:
**Leadership**
- Understands the product in terms of food safety and regulatory compliance and alerts Food Safety Specialist/QA Manager about discrepancies/ out of norm and takes action.
- Strives for continuous improvement of workflows in the microbiological section.
- Assists Food Safety Specialist/QA Manager in GLP self-assessments, improvement projects and Pathogen Monitoring.
- Follow-up on results obtained, do trend analysis and make/monitor recommendations for improvements. Meet deadlines with releases.
**Technical**
- Analysis of samples: prepare required media. Perform required microbiological analysis of samples, report results within allocated time frame.
- Management of GLP, ICP, SOP: Puts ICPs, SOPs in place and updates them when necessary.
- Maintain Good laboratory practices (GLP).
- Ensure safety is always in place.
- Proficiency Testing: Participate in “P” tests
- Mixed microbes
- Maintenance of resources keeps track of resources (chemicals/gases/ glassware/instruments, consumables).
- Maintains equipment (services) and arrange for defects/faulty equipment to be repaired. Maintain records of repairs/calibrations/analytical method control.

- Graduate (degree/diploma) in Microbiology / Food Technology / Biochemistry
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in microbiological techniques and analysis.

- Product knowledge
- ISO 17025 certification process and documentation requirements,
- Food safety and regulatory compliance.
