During your apprenticeship, you will be provided with mentoring while you complete on-the-job and off-the-job training. We will provide you with ongoing support to help you achieve your career goals.

**What will you be doing?**

An apprenticeship in Wall and Floor Tiling equips you with the skills and knowledge to lay ceramic, clay, slate, glass, travertine, and other types of tiles on external and internal walls and floors. Our Host employer has a focus on domestic bathroom renovations.

You will undertake a variety of tasks, including:

- Using wall and floor tiling tools and equipment
- Preparing wall and floor surfaces by removing old tiles, grout, cement, and adhesive
- Attaching tiles to surfaces, using appropriate adhesive, and ensuring patterned tiles match
- Using tile-cutting tools to cut and shape tiles needed for edges, corners, or around obstacles such as fittings and pipes
- Correctly spacing tiles by using tools such as spirit levels, squares, and plumb lines
- Laying floors of cement, granolithic, terrazzo or similar composition

**Does this sound like you?**

You may have undertaken Doorways to Construction at school, or already worked in the construction industry. Ideally you will also have:

- The desire to work in the tiling industry
- Your white card, a focus on health and safety and the ability to maintain a safe work environment
- A current driver's licence and access to a reliable vehicle
- Experience as a team player through employment or team sports
- A positive attitude to new challenges
- Great communication skills
- An eye for detail because perfection is key when laying tiles
- Physical fitness with the ability to bend, kneel, lift and carry materials
