**Job Purpose**:
The FOM, CCMM & Aircraft Documentation Specialist will protect the interests of the Flight Operations division by ensuring that the division is compliant with aviation regulatory frameworks and relevant internal policies and procedures. This is accomplished by verifying that the standards required by applicable legislative and regulatory bodies, as well as any additional standards as defined by SAA, are being carried out by the Flight Operations division. The Specialist will facilitate the risk management policies and processes for Flight Operations including hazard identification, risk assessment and risk mitigation in order to ensure audit compliance to legislation and regulatory frameworks.
The role is further responsible for the procurement, implementation, publication and distribution of all documents relevant to this function, as well as to ensure that documents on-board the Flight Deck are maintained to the correct revision status on all SAA aircraft and conform to the SACAA and foreign regulations.
The Specialist is required to manage and revise (as and when required) the Cabin Crew Member manual while ensuring compliance with the legislation and obtaining SACAA approval. In addition, the role will manage the on-board cabin crew manual and the publication of internal bulletins.
Further to this, the Specialist will monitor any corrective actions assigned or required in order to ensure achievement of the Airline’s objectives.
**Principal Accountabilities**:
- Provide input to the design of the Flight Operations Strategy taking into account specialist expertise, best practice, benchmarking and market standards etc.
- Implements Flight Operations strategy within area of responsibility
- Provides input to policies, processes, action plans and systems to support implementation of the strategy
- Conduct research into best practices related to area of responsibility and against business requirements/ challenges in order to optimize practices
- Identify initiatives in alignment with business requirements and strategic objectives and plan budget
- Analyse cost drivers and provide recommendations on profitability
- Provide recommendations to actively support cost and headcount containment
- Drive reduction of non-compliance enforcement penalties
- Optimize technology to enhance internal and external customer expectations
- Implements processes to deliver customer value
- Maintain effective internal and external stakeholder relationships through appropriate relationship building and networking
- Drive continuous optimization programmes, projects & initiatives
- Engage in trend analysis, benchmarking, research, best practice to support optimization of department
- Optimize controls, processes and systems to ensure that the Flight Operations division is compliant with aviation regulatory frameworks and relevant internal policies and procedures
- Facilitate risk management policies and processes for Flight Operations including risk assessment and risk mitigation
- Compile mandatory reports within functional area of expertise in view of best practices and business strategy
- Compile and review policies and procedures and update as necessary to ensure the required compliance standards are maintained
- Conduct regular quality control exercises or audits across business units to measure compliance with policies, procedures and standards and adherence to minimum standards
- Manage and co-ordinate business unit internal and external audits as required
- Monitor the functional performance against agreed performance indicators and trends in business and identify optimization proposals
- Implement and monitor controls and procedures within Flight operations compliance processes to ensure fair practices and alignment between divisional and the Airline’s strategy
- Liaise and negotiate with aircraft manufacturers regarding the supply and revision of operational documentation and data
- Manage and maintain the flight deck documentation and electronic data onboard the aircraft, issue revisions as dictated by aircraft modifications and manufacturer initiated changes
- Maintain the archive of master documents
- Publish reports of documentation status and distribution as required for audit purposes
