PURPOSE
The role is responsible to ensure that all rigging task based on, installation,
maintenance/repairs/replacement of all equipment executed safely and
efficiently. This role requires a lot of complex and specialised lifting skills
RESPONSIBILITIES
Safety, Health and Environment
Promote SHEQ performance, programs and campaigns
Conduct risk assessments
Execute planned task observations
Conduct SHEQ meetings
Report & Investigate all incidents/accidents
Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation e.g. Mine Health and Safety Act
Maintenance Services
Implement maintenance schedules
Maintenance of All lifting tackle
Maintains
epairs all rigging equipment
Conduct plant inspection on all key lifting equipment installations
Identifies and priorities equipment in need of maintenance/repairs &
certification
Plans down time for repairs/maintenance & project work
Plans for material and men to assist Inform foreman with day to day tasks
Do risk assessment/study procedures
Do complex lifting plans. Do repairs/maintenance
Technical Responsibilities
Perform pre-engineering studies in order to undertake rigging activities
Perform rope splicing
Mobile crane inspection and maintenance coordination plan, organise
and control the erection, alteration and dismantling of loadbearing
scaffolding
Determine lifting, moving and rigging requirements
Inspect rigging equipment for any defects before using it for rigging
purposes
Sling complex loads and communicate during crane operations
Legal inspections and logbooks
Strong leadership and coordination skills
Coach and assist co-workers
QUALIFICATIONS
Grade 12
N3 Engineering Certificate
Trade Test Rigging
EXPERIENCE
Minimum 5 years working experience as a Rigger in Mining and Construction
Learnership/apprenticeship as a Rigger
SKILLS, QUALITIES AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
Coordinating.

Problem solving skills
Communication skills (Written and verbal)
Able to plan and execute complex rigging tasks
